07•21•2011

Nassau, Bahamas - Maine Native, Ashley Lauren Kerr was excited to receive the news of the crowning of Anastagia Pierre at The Miss Bahamas 2011 Pageant held at the Atlantis Theatre on Paradise Island on Sunday, May 1st.  The Theatre was almost filled to capacity and the energy and excitement was building as they announced the winner.

Kerr, raised in Old Orchard Beach and attended Waynflete in Portland, spent her summers working at her family restaurant, Surf 6. In 2008 Kerr fell into the pageant world at the urging of her friend, and competed for the Miss Maine title. Though she didn’t win the crown, she observed the talent of her trainer, Grace Fontecha, formerly of Barbazon. This was the catalyst of this young entrepreneur to start her own niche in the fashion industry.

Kerr has started a business based in Scarborough, Maine training and dressing some notable contenders in the pageant industry. Grace Fontecha trains the contestants in poise and Kerr has over the past 2 years signed 7 major Venezuelan and Puerto Rican designers to design custom handmade dresses.

Miss Bahamas Universe -  Anastagia Pierre - Miss UPX Redline – is 22 years old 5"10 tall and was trained by Grace Fontecha and dressed in a gown created by Nidal at the direction of Kerr. Grace Fontecha will train Miss Bahamas for the Miss Universe competition. Kerr is the official sponsor of the Miss Bahamas Universe Pageant.
